Amylyx Pharmaceuticals stock surges on positive Phase 3 trial results

Amylyx Pharmaceuticals saw a significant surge in stock price following positive results from its Phase 3 LUCIDITY clinical trial. The study evaluated avexitide, an investigational GLP-1 receptor antagonist designed to treat post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH), a condition where patients experience severe low blood sugar after weight-loss surgeries.

The trial met its primary and all secondary endpoints, demonstrating a 55% reduction in severe hypoglycemic events compared to a placebo. The drug was reported to be generally well-tolerated with no serious treatment-related adverse events. Following these results, Amylyx expressed intentions to file a New Drug Application (NDA) with the FDA by the end of the year.

Despite the clinical success, the company concurrently announced a $350 million public offering of common stock, which introduces potential dilution for shareholders. The stock experienced high trading volume, marking one of its strongest single-day performances in several years.
