Çorum hosts dog breed championship and leblebi contest at Hitit Fair
At the 38th International Çorum Hitit Fair and Festival, the Çorum Municipality organized a Turkish Shepherd Dog Championship. About 100 dogs representing native breeds such as Akbaş, Kangal and others were evaluated in nine categories by experts from the International Eurasian Dog Breeds Federation and the World Anatolian Shepherd Dogs Kinology Association. Winners earned places in the national finals scheduled for later in the year.
The same fair also featured a Leblebi (roasted chickpea) competition. Producers submitted samples that were judged on taste, aroma, weight, appearance and quality by a six‑member jury. Yaşar Bodur took first place, followed by Metin Bodur and Ömer Karakuş. Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın highlighted the events as expressions of Çorum’s cultural heritage and thanked participants and organizers for their efforts.
