Çorum hosts international Hitit Fair with food and art competitions
The 38th International Çorum Hitit Fair and Festival took place in the city of Çorum, Turkey. As part of the programme, a leblebi competition was held, where producer Yaşar Bodur won first place, with Metin Bodur second and Ömer Karakuş third. A separate regional food contest featured 20 participants preparing Çorum su böreği, baklava, kuru mantısı and şekerlemesi; winners received cash prizes of 10,000 TL, 7,500 TL and 5,000 TL, with additional mansiyon awards.
The fair also hosted an International Art Workshop, inviting 34 painters from Turkey and five other nations (Iran, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia‑Herzegovina and Uzbekistan). The artists created 38 works inspired by Çorum’s historic sites and natural scenery, which were exhibited at Hanönü Meydanı and will be added to the municipal art museum collection. Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın attended the opening ceremonies and highlighted the cultural significance of the events.
These activities aimed to promote Çorum’s culinary heritage and artistic exchange, drawing local officials, producers, artists and visitors together under the festival’s banner.
