Turkish mayors hold “Citizen asks, mayor answers” meetings in towns and districts
Mayors and municipal officials in several Turkish towns and districts hosted “Vatandaş Soruyor, Başkan Cevaplıyor” (Citizen asks, mayor answers) sessions, inviting residents to present demands, suggestions and complaints directly. The events were held in Arpaçay, Ordu, Osmangazi (Bursa), Çorum, Denizli’s Çameli district, Karatay (Konya) and other locales. Participants included local party representatives and municipal staff who recorded the issues and pledged to forward them to relevant departments. Officials highlighted ongoing projects and upcoming investments, emphasizing a service‑oriented, transparent approach and the importance of hearing residents “on site.” The series of meetings reflects a broader push by local governments in Turkey to increase public participation and improve service delivery at the neighbourhood level.
