Çorum to showcase culinary heritage at San Sebastian Gastronomika

The city of Çorum will showcase its ancient culinary heritage at the San Sebastian Gastronomika 2026 event in Spain, scheduled for October 5–7. As the first and only city to receive a special invitation to participate on a municipal level, Çorum aims to introduce its thousands of years of food culture to international chefs, researchers, and industry professionals.

Organized through a collaboration between the Çorum Governorate, Çorum Municipality, Hitit University, and local chambers of commerce, the participation includes two dedicated programs: ‘Anatolian Gastronomic Heritage: Çorum’ and ‘Flavors of Çorum’. These sessions will feature live cooking demonstrations and tastings of traditional dishes tracing back to the Hittite era.

Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın stated that these international contacts are strategic steps toward the city’s goal of joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for gastronomy. The GastroÇorum project focuses on researching, recording, and preserving the region's culinary identity for future generations while fostering new international tourism and cultural partnerships.
