Oruro athletes compete in national duathlon, football, and futsal events
Various sports competitions involving Oruro delegations are underway or scheduled in Bolivia. In the 2026 national duathlon held in Sucre, the Oruro selection secured fourth place overall, earning three gold medals through athletes including Liam Mendoza, Lionel Mendoza, and Klay Zenteno.
In football, the national phase of the Copa Simón Bolívar begins on August 21. The tournament offers a path to the Professional Division, with the champion earning direct promotion. Upcoming matches include Deportivo FATIC against Huanuni.
Additionally, the Oruro senior futsal team, led by coach Valentín Humacayo, is preparing for the national championship in Sucre starting August 24. The 12-man squad aims to reach the semifinals to bolster the region's sporting reputation.
