Oruro hosts motorsports competition and launches 2027 Carnival

The city of Oruro is hosting several significant cultural and sporting events. The Asociación Departamental de Automovilismo Deportivo de Oruro (AADO) is organizing its second competition of the 2026 season in Sacaca on August 21. The event requires participants to undergo rigorous mechanical, technical, and medical inspections to ensure safety. Organizers expect between 23 and 25 vehicles to participate in the race.

In cultural news, the official launch for the 2027 Carnaval de Oruro took place on August 21. The festivities, which are recognized as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, will feature 18 dance specialties. The upcoming celebrations include a parade of 41 fraternities on August 22 and the ‘Mini Calvario’ on August 23, featuring miniature crafts near the Basilica of Our Lady of the Socavón.
