Oruro police to train five rescued Golden Retriever puppies

Five Golden Retriever puppies rescued from an interdepartmental bus in Oruro will join the ranks of the Bolivian Police. The puppies were discovered inside apple transport boxes at the Oruro bus terminal, hidden by passengers who reported the noise and barking coming from the cargo.

One of the puppies was treated for severe dehydration by veterinary staff from the Oruro Mayor's Office Zoonosis Unit. Following their recovery, the puppies were handed over to the Special Force to Fight Environmental Crimes (Felcda). Under the direction of the Public Ministry, the five dogs will be integrated into the Police Unit of Canines to undergo professional training to become service animals.

The bus was traveling from Cochabamba to Tarija. While the owners were not identified, authorities suspect the puppies were being transported for illegal commercialization.
