Orvieto authorities convene technical meeting to address wild boar presence

A technical committee met in Terni on Friday, October 23, to address the increasing presence of wild boars in inhabited areas near the Orvieto cliff. The meeting was convened by Prefect Antonietta Orlando following a request from the Municipality of Orvieto due to reports of wildlife sightings, particularly within the Orvieto Scalo urban area.

Participants included the Mayor of Orvieto, Roberta Tardani, along with representatives from the Umbria Region, the Province of Terni, the Carabinieri, provincial police, Asl Umbria 2, and the local hunting district. The group analyzed the causes of the sightings and discussed potential containment strategies.

Authorities have agreed to launch an extensive monitoring phase to assess the extent of the animal population, their distribution, and potential risk levels. A series of inspections involving all relevant stakeholders is scheduled for next week to gather data for targeted interventions.
