Orvieto celebrates 60 years of Cronoscalata La Castellana

Orvieto is preparing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Cronoscalata La Castellana with a commemorative event at the Palazzo dei Sette on Saturday, September 12. The ceremony will feature historical drivers, local authorities, and guests such as Autosprint director Andrea Cordovani to reflect on the competition's history since its inception in 1966.

The event serves as a prelude to the 53rd edition of the race, which is scheduled to take place from September 25 to 27. This upcoming edition will be part of the Italian Mountain Speed Championship (Campionato Italiano Velocità Montagna) for both northern and southern sectors.

Among the honored guests will be Alessandra Nesti, daughter of the late Mauro Nesti, a legendary figure in the sport known as the ‘King of the Mountain’. The celebration aims to honor the legacy of past participants while promoting the upcoming competitive challenges and the cultural significance of the race to the Orvieto region.
