Orvieto healthcare waiting times increase for medical visits

Healthcare waiting times for medical visits and examinations in the Orvieto district have increased across all priority levels. Data obtained from USL Umbria 2 comparing 2025 to the first half of 2026 shows that while the total volume of services remains relatively stable, the time patients must wait has grown by 9% to 19%.

The most significant increase was observed in programmable (P) services, which are non-urgent. Waiting times for these services rose by 19%, increasing from 138 days to 164 days, exceeding the 120-day limit. Control examinations, which account for approximately half of all services, saw waiting times rise from 63 to 70 days.

Additionally, waiting times for deferrable (D) visits, which have a 30-day limit, increased from 60 to 69 days on average. These delays are noted to drive some residents toward private healthcare options.
