Orvieto Highway Police face critical staff shortages

The Movimento Sindacale Autonomo di Polizia (MOSAP) has issued an alert regarding critical staffing shortages at the Orvieto Highway Police Sub-section. According to union leaders Fabio Conestà and Raffaele Quattranni, the current personnel levels are insufficient to fulfill the unit's institutional duties, potentially compromising both officer safety and territorial control.

Approximately 29% of the assigned staff is currently dedicated to bureaucratic and administrative tasks, significantly reducing the number of officers available for field operations. The union notes that maintaining five continuous daily shifts requires at least five units per quadrant—four for two patrols and one for the guard post. Under current conditions, the simultaneous absence of just two officers due to leave or contractual rights can result in the cancellation of one of the two scheduled highway patrols.

Furthermore, the shortage prevents the sub-section from performing its responsibility to monitor local roads. MOSAP reports that available resources must be concentrated almost exclusively on highway stretches, leaving major local arteries without dedicated patrol coverage.
