Orvieto prison inmates to compete in regional futsal championship

A team of 19 inmates from the Orvieto prison in Umbria will participate in the FIGC regional futsal championship, competing in Serie C2. Registered as Asdcr Orvieto C5, the team has been placed in Group B alongside 13 other teams.

All matches will be held within the prison facility on Saturdays at 3:00 PM, utilizing the institution's synthetic grass pitch. This arrangement requires opposing teams to travel to the prison to play. The team's debut is scheduled for October 24 against Alfina Lupi-Orvietofc Aca.

The initiative, presented at the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti headquarters in Perugia, aims to combine sport with social reintegration and education. The project is supported by the prison police, the Umbria Regional Committee of the FIGC, and regional government representatives.
