Orvieto's Castellana Hill Climb Marks 60th Anniversary with Tribute to Late Director

The Castellana hill climb, a motorsport event held in Orvieto, Italy, is marking its 60th edition, the first since its inaugural race in 1966. The 2026 celebration will be the first without longtime director Paolo Roselli, who passed away a few days earlier, prompting friends and collaborators to plan tributes in his memory.

The Castellana Association, in partnership with the “Birra a Tutto Rock” committee, has organized a three‑day “Birra e Motori” festival in Piazza del Popolo from 24 to 26 September. The event will combine beer tastings with a dedicated space for motor displays. The race’s historic route, praised by journalist Carlo Burlando in 1968 as a “picturesque jewel of natural grace,” continues to challenge drivers and attract participants, even as the audience demographic evolves.
