A new road viaduct on Dobrego Urobku street in Katowice was opened to traffic on 31 July 2026. The structure is 23 metres long, 13 metres longer than the previous bridge, and is built to accommodate a four‑track railway layout instead of the former two tracks. Sidewalks were added on both sides and lighting and safety barriers were installed.

The opening restores the key shortcut between Załęska Hałda, Brynowa and Ligota, relieving the heavily congested A4 Mikołowska junction that had been overloaded for more than a year. Mayor Marcin Krupa and PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe director Marcin Mochocki attended a briefing at the site, emphasizing the viaduct as a milestone of the broader Katowice rail‑hub modernization, which involves roughly 140 bridges, viaducts and other technical objects. The upgraded line is expected to increase capacity for regional trains and separate local from long‑distance traffic.

The viaduct is part of a multi‑year investment programme aimed at improving rail throughput and road traffic flow across the southern part of the Silesian metropolitan area.
