Osaka City challenged over Kobayashi Pharmaceutical red yeast rice investigation

Kunsei Club Co., Ltd. has released findings challenging the administrative procedures used by the Osaka City Health Center regarding the Kobayashi Pharmaceutical red yeast rice incident. The company alleges significant procedural gaps in how the city identified the presence of puberulic acid.

Key points of contention include the fact that the city's public announcement regarding the link between blue mold and puberulic acid occurred approximately six months before official laboratory notification documents were issued. The company notes that the city claims to have received information via a telephone call for which no date, content, or official record exists.

Furthermore, the company highlights that the specific mold strains identified as the cause were not collected by administrative authorities through standard seizure procedures under the Food Sanitation Act. Instead, these samples were voluntarily provided by Kobayashi Pharmaceutical. Kunsei Club is demanding that Osaka City clarify the scientific basis for its public statements and explain why official documentation for these findings was absent at the time of disclosure.
