Osaka commemorates one year since Expo 2025 closure

Osaka Metro will host the ‘Myaku-Myaku Osaka Metro Collaboration Festa’ at Yumeshima Station from October 31 to November 3 to mark the first anniversary of the Osaka-Kansai Expo's conclusion. The event will feature large-scale LED displays showing fireworks footage produced by Katsuragi Enka, alongside the sale of new collaboration merchandise featuring the Expo mascot, Myaku-Myaku.

Following the end of the Expo, discussions have emerged regarding regional transit efficiency. Analysts have noted that the ‘Expo Liner’—a rapid service that provided direct access from Shin-Osaka to the Expo site via the JR Osaka Higashi Line—ceased operations when the event ended. Currently, travelers heading to Universal Studios Japan (USJ) from Shin-Osaka often face multiple transfers at Osaka Station, leading to calls for a potential new direct service to accommodate high tourist demand.
