Osaka Gas completes first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in Osaka Bay

Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the first ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation in Osaka Bay. Using the bunkering vessel SETO AZURE, the company supplied liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel to an LNG-powered Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) at the Port of Kobe.

The operation was conducted through the Singapore-based marine fuel trading company Integr8 Fuels Pte. Ltd. for an overseas shipping company. This milestone is intended to support the development of the Port of Kobe as a carbon-neutral port and ensure a stable supply of LNG fuel within the Osaka Bay region.

Osaka Gas currently provides LNG fuel through three primary methods: ship-to-ship, truck-to-ship, and port-to-ship. The company aims to contribute to the decarbonization of the maritime industry by expanding its fuel supply infrastructure and promoting the social implementation of e-methane.
