Osaka man arrested for fatal assault on 80-year-old mother

Police in Misaki, Osaka Prefecture, have arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of causing the death of his 80-year-old mother through physical assault. The incident occurred on July 10, when the suspect allegedly stomped on his mother at their residence.

The victim was transported to a hospital but later died after sustaining multiple injuries, including eight fractured ribs. During investigations, the suspect reportedly admitted to the assault, stating, "I assaulted her due to caregiver fatigue," and claimed that the violence had become a daily occurrence.

The mother and son had lived together for approximately 13 to 14 years. The suspect had reportedly left his job in 2022 to focus on caring for his mother. Police are investigating the full circumstances of the case, noting that the victim's body showed multiple bruises.
