Osaka Monorail hosts inaugural Miyazaki shochu themed train

The Osaka Monorail hosted its first “Shochu Train” event on August 29, featuring premium shochu from Miyazaki Prefecture. The chartered train, which carried 124 passengers, traveled a two-hour route between Banpaku-kinen-koen Station, Kadoma-shi Station, and Osaka Airport Station.

Participants were able to sample six different varieties from three major Miyazaki breweries: Kirishima, Unkai, and Kagura. The event included demonstrations on how to properly enjoy shochu using soda or hot water, led by experts and brewery staff. To complement the spirits, a special “Hinata Bento” was served, featuring regional Miyazaki ingredients such as chicken nanban and charcoal-grilled chicken.

The event aimed to introduce Miyazaki shochu to a wider audience in a casual setting. Attendees, including international students and shochu beginners, participated in tastings and interacted directly with the producers.
