Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art hosts NHK Sunday Museum 50th Anniversary Exhibition

The Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art has opened the ‘NHK Sunday Museum 50th Anniversary Exhibition,’ marking half a century of the long-running NHK fine arts program. Running from October 10 to December 20, the exhibition features over 140 works by approximately 60 masters from various eras and regions.

The exhibition serves as the final stop in a tour that previously visited Tokyo and Shizuoka. It includes exclusive works for the Osaka venue, such as Yuichi Takahashi’s Important Cultural Property ‘Oiran,’ Jakuchu Ito’s ‘Stone Lantern Screen,’ and Salvador Dalí’s ‘Madonna of Port Lligat.’

Visitors can experience the history of the program through archival footage and displays that recreate the show’s atmosphere. The exhibition also highlights contemporary artists, including large-scale works by Tomoko Konoike and the ‘Hiroshima series’ by Touko Ishii.
