Osaka redevelopment: Logistics facility construction begins near Hirano Station
Large-scale mixed-use redevelopment near JR Hirano Station in Osaka has entered a significant construction phase. Okumura Corporation and Mitsubishi Corporation Urban Development announced the start of construction for a logistics facility with a floor area of approximately 29,100 square meters on September 1, 2026.
The project, located on the former site of Aeon Town Hirano, aims to combine commercial and urban logistics. A commercial facility with a floor area of 20,633 square meters began construction in September 2025. The commercial portion is expected to be completed in the winter of 2027, while the logistics portion is slated for completion in the winter of 2028. The total floor area for both buildings will be approximately 49,733 square meters.
In a separate regional development, a large-scale sports shop, described as the largest in the Kansai area, has opened in the Umeda district of Osaka. The store is designed to leverage local redevelopment and increased foot traffic through experiential retail offerings.
