Osaka region expands cashless payment services

Various service updates regarding cashless payments are being implemented in the Osaka region.

Starting September 1, 2026, Hankyu Railway will expand its contactless payment services across all stations (excluding Tenjinbashisuji Rokuchome). This update allows passengers to use credit cards for entry and exit, enabling free movement in and out of the same station for up to 20 minutes. This follows a previous March 2024 update that introduced similar functionality for transit IC cards.

Additionally, Expo '70 Commemorative Park in Suita City will introduce cashless payment options starting October 1, 2026. Visitors will be able to use credit cards, electronic money, and barcode payments for common entrance tickets to the Nature and Culture Gardens and Japanese Gardens, as well as for parking fee settlements. Cash remains an accepted payment method at the park.
