Osaka standing soba chains highlighted in regional food feature
A television program on TV Osaka is highlighting the competition between three major standing soba chains in Osaka: Miyako Soba, Nankai Soba, and Wakana Soba.
Nankai Soba, located in JR Tennoji Station, is noted for its popular tanuki soba featuring large fried tofu and a custom dashi blend. Wakana Soba, which originated as Hankyu Soba, is recognized for its curry udon and unique potato soba. Miyako Soba maintains a traditional style with over 30 menu items.
The broadcast also features Yuka Watanabe, the 27-year-old CEO of Miyako Soba. Having transitioned from aspiring to be a doctor, Watanabe assumed the leadership role in late 2025 to implement internal reforms and increase the company's social media presence. She also introduced 'Miyako Soba Day' on the 8th of every month, offering discounts to customers.
