Osaka Toin advances to baseball semifinals with shutout win
Osaka Toin High School advanced to the semifinals of the autumn high school baseball Osaka Prefecture tournament following a 7-0 shutout victory against Risshisha High School. The game, held at the Osaka City Shinkin Bank Stadium, ended in a seven-inning mercy rule.
Ace pitcher Haruto Kawamoto delivered a dominant performance, recording eight strikeouts and allowing only four hits. Kawamoto, a sophomore, reached a personal record tie with a fastball clocked at 152 km/h. Despite facing a bases-loaded jam in the seventh inning, he managed to escape without allowing a run.
The victory places Osaka Toin in a strong position to qualify for the Kinki regional tournament, while the loss significantly impacts Risshisha's chances of participating in the spring Senbatsu tournament.
