Osaka's night pools and water deck attract visitors during heatwave

Three municipal pools in Osaka prefecture have opened night‑time swimming sessions to help residents escape the extreme summer heat. Tsurumi Ryokuchi Pool in Osaka City runs nightly from July 18 to August 30 (18:00‑20:30) with adult tickets at ¥1,200. Matsubara City Pool offers a two‑day night‑pool on August 21‑22 (19:00‑21:00) for ¥500 adults, while Sunhill Sports Center in Kashiwara City provides evening swimming from August 3‑4 (18:00‑21:00) at ¥1,400 for adults. All venues limit entry and require parental supervision for younger children.

At the nearby Grand Front Osaka complex, the “Seseragi Terrace” water‑deck lets children dip their feet in a shallow stream. The feature has become popular with families, but a social‑media post questioned whether it is appropriate for children to play in the water. Facility officials responded that the area is safe and intended for casual play, and it continues to draw crowds despite the online debate.
