Osamu Mukai to star in WOWOW medical drama ‘MR -Medical Representative-’

The WOWOW drama series ‘MR -Medical Representative-’ has released its full cast announcement and trailer. Starring Osamu Mukai, the five-episode series is scheduled to premiere on October 4.

The story follows Masaki Kiochu (Mukai), a Medical Representative (MR) at Tenpo Pharmaceutical who adheres to a ‘patient-first’ philosophy. He faces intense competition from Jun Samejima (Kaname 요준), an MR at the rival foreign firm Taurus who prioritizes profit. The plot explores the ethical conflicts within the pharmaceutical industry, including drug-induced injury lawsuits and the tension between medical ideals and business realities.

Jiyoung, a former member of the K-pop group KARA, has been cast as Kang Young-jin, the director of a South Korean medical center whose actions influence the main characters. The series also features Ryoki 正門 (Seimon) and other supporting actors, delving into the complexities of life-saving missions versus corporate interests.
