Osan Mayor requests expanded land and transport funding for Segyo 3 District

Osan Mayor Jo Yong-ho and Osan City Council Chairman Kim Jong-uk met with Kim Yi-tak, the First Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to request critical improvements for the Segyo 3 Public Housing District.

To prevent the issues faced by the Segyo 1 and 2 districts—such as excessive rental housing ratios, lack of self-sufficiency, and inadequate transportation—the city is requesting several key changes. Specifically, the mayor requested that the self-sufficiency land be expanded to approximately 990,000 square meters (300,000 pyeong) to attract AI and semiconductor material, component, and equipment companies. This would support Osan's goal of becoming a central hub for the semiconductor cluster in southern Gyeonggi Province.

Additionally, the city is calling for the budget for regional transportation improvement measures to be increased to 20% of the total project cost, noting that the current 7.6% rate is significantly lower than the 15–20% average seen in other districts. The city also requested an increase in the ratio of housing for sale and expanded housing supplies for newlyweds. Vice Minister Kim Yi-tak responded that the ministry would carefully review the proposals at a working level to ensure the successful development of the district.
