Oscar Onley claims stage win for Netcompany INEOS at Vuelta a Burgos
On 5 August 2026 British rider Oscar Onley secured his first victory for the Netcompany INEOS team in the second stage of the Vuelta a Burgos. He outsprinted Giulio Ciccone on a steep uphill finish to Valle del Sol, a climb of just over 3 km with gradients up to 7.6 %. The win also gave Onley the race leader’s jersey, putting him four seconds ahead of Bjorn Koerdt.
The triumph follows a serious crash two months earlier at the Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes, where Onley suffered a shoulder luxation and other injuries that forced him out of the Tour de France. He said, “I’m very happy. Up to this point it hadn’t been a good season. I had many setbacks… It’s a great relief.” The stage win positions the 23‑year‑old for the upcoming Vuelta a España, where he will face further mountain tests against riders such as Felix Gall and Giulio Pellizzari.
