Oscar Piastri admits McLaren needs improvement after Bahrain GP

Oscar Piastri has acknowledged that McLaren must improve their performance following a difficult Bahrain Grand Prix, held at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Piastri finished the race in sixth place after a complicated afternoon involving heavy rain and strategic decisions regarding tyre choices.

Piastri noted that the team struggled with pace, stating they “weren’t quick enough” to challenge for race wins and were unable to keep up with the surging performance of Red Bull. While he suggested McLaren and Ferrari remain in a similar competitive bracket, he emphasized that neither team currently possesses the speed required to fight for victories.

The event, originally scheduled for Bahrain, was relocated to Malaysia due to conflicts in the Middle East. Max Verstappen secured the victory, highlighting Red Bull's increased competitiveness in the current championship battle.
