Oscar Piastri highlights track surface issues at COTA

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has raised concerns regarding the bumpy surface at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) during the United States Grand Prix weekend. Following a seventh-place qualifying result, Piastri compared the unevenness on the approach to the first corner to a motocross jump.

Piastri noted that while much of the track has improved compared to previous years, specific sections—particularly the approach to Turn 1 and the area around Turn 19—pose significant challenges. He warned that these bumps could hinder overtaking attempts during the race, as drivers will be braking directly on the uneven surfaces.

In addition to track conditions, Piastri addressed difficulties in extracting the full potential from his McLaren. He indicated that both he and teammate Lando Norris have struggled throughout the season to fully utilize the car's performance, despite having sufficient raw speed.
