Oscar Piastri receives three-place grid penalty for Italian Grand Prix

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has received a three-position grid penalty for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza following an incident with Liam Lawson during qualifying. Although Piastri originally qualified third, the FIA stewards determined that his exit from the pit lane caused an unnecessary obstruction to Lawson, who was on a fast lap.

The stewards noted that while Piastri had not been informed in time that Lawson was on a flying lap and attempted to move away once he realized the situation, the obstruction was deemed unavoidable and required a penalty. As a result, Piastri will start the race from sixth position.

The penalty reshuffles the starting grid, promoting Charles Leclerc to third, Lewis Hamilton to fourth, and Max Verstappen to fifth.
