Osceola County celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations are underway in Osceola County and the city of Kissimmee, featuring community events that highlight local culture, arts, and cuisine.
In Kissimmee, the city officially renamed Ruby Plaza at Lakefront Park to the Bill Hansen Plaza on September 23. The designation honors Guillermo ‘Bill’ Hansen, the late former owner of the Osceola Star Hispanic newspaper, who was a prominent advocate for the Hispanic business community.
Local festivities included a county-level event at the Osceola Heritage Park Extension Services building and a municipal fiesta in Kissimmee featuring student performances from the Osceola County School for the Arts. Additionally, a Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition is being held at City Hall, showcasing various local artists through November 13.
