OSEF evaluates relocating Ushuaia pharmacy due to building deterioration

The Obra Social del Estado Fueguino (OSEF) is evaluating the relocation of its pharmacy and part of its administration in Ushuaia. The decision is driven by the deteriorating condition of the current 30-year-old building and high operational costs, including monthly rent exceeding $30 million.

Horacio Gallego, director for liabilities at OSEF, noted that the building’s electrical infrastructure is original and has exceeded its estimated 20-year lifespan. This deterioration poses a risk to stored high-cost medications kept in refrigerators, which require stable power. Additionally, the lack of electrical blueprints complicates necessary repairs.

The organization is searching for a more central and accessible location with at least 200 square meters of space to consolidate both the pharmacy and administrative functions. The relocation process is expected to take approximately one year or more.
