OSGF officials claim ICPC was misled regarding project office status

Officials within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) claim the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) was misled into labeling the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office as a ‘fake agency.’

According to internal sources, the controversy stems from an internal dispute between the project's promoter, George Nwabueze, and certain directors within the OSGF. These officials allege that the directors filed a petition to the ICPC following disagreements, leading the anti-corruption commission to declare the project office an unauthorized government agency.

OSGF officials argue that the entity is a project office rather than a statutory agency and has operated within the government secretariat since 2010. They contend that the ICPC failed to perform due diligence and instead acted on misinformation provided by individuals with personal grievances. The ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, has briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the matter as the presidency awaits a final report.
