Serbia to Distribute 30,000 Tourism Vouchers to Pensioners

Serbian Minister of Tourism and Youth Husein Memić announced that, starting 3 August, the government will issue 30 000 tourism vouchers worth 10 000 dinars each. The vouchers are intended for pensioners whose monthly pension does not exceed 80 000 dinars, a shift from previous rounds where roughly 70 % of vouchers went to pensioners. The allocation will be managed through a new regulation; hospitality operators have five days to submit applications once the decree is adopted.

The move follows a 6‑7 % rise in tourist arrivals during the first five months of the year, placing Serbia among the ten most‑visited destinations according to the World Tourism Organization. To sustain growth, the ministry is launching a mobile app and digital platform that will promote rural tourism and connect visitors with local hosts, noting an increase in registered rural tourism households from about 700 to nearly 1 900.

Memić expects the voucher programme, combined with the digital tools, to boost visitor numbers further and support a record‑breaking tourism season for Serbia.
