Osijek-Baranja County declares natural disaster due to drought

The Prefect of Osijek-Baranja County has officially declared a state of natural disaster due to drought, affecting areas including the municipality of Vuka and the city of Donji Miholjac. The declaration, effective as of September 1, 2026, follows a prolonged lack of precipitation and high temperatures during the summer months, which resulted in soil water shortages.

The drought has caused damage to perennial crops, fishponds, and general agricultural production. Affected individuals and legal entities are required to submit damage claims by the deadline of September 9, 2026. Late applications will not be considered.

Claimants must submit specific documentation, including identification, proof of property ownership or usage, and a copy of the 2026 support request issued by the Agency for Payments in Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development. Additional requirements for legal entities include extracts from the court register and identification for responsible persons.
