Osijek prepares for major Oscar Nemon sculpture exhibition

Approximately 40 valuable artworks, sculptures, plaques, and medals are arriving in Osijek from the United Kingdom for a major exhibition titled ‘Portraits of an Era: Oscar Nemon and Icons of the 20th Century’. The exhibition, held at the Museum of Fine Arts Osijek (MLU), commemorates the 120th anniversary of the birth of Oscar Nemon, one of the most significant sculptors born in Osijek.

The collection includes works from various international institutions, such as the Estate of Oscar Nemon, the Imperial War Museum, the Institute for Psychoanalysis in London, and the Belgian Embassy in London, as well as private collections. A central feature of the exhibition will be portraits of prominent 20th-century figures, including Winston Churchill and Sigmund Freud.

Organized by the Museum of Fine Arts Osijek and Osijek-Baranja County, this event marks the first comprehensive presentation of Nemon’s life and work in Croatia. The project is supported by the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Culture and Media, the City of Osijek, and Osijek-Baranja County.
