Italy advances cancer prevention and oncology treatments

In Italy, several major health initiatives and medical advancements are being highlighted. The organization is hosting an event in Rome to reflect on five decades of innovation in breast cancer care, emphasizing that survival must be accompanied by quality of life, including psychological support and rehabilitation.

In the field of oncology research, Antonio Passaro of the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) reported significant long-term results from the Adaura study. Data presented at a global lung cancer congress indicates that the use of osimertinib provides improved disease control and survival rates at eight years for patients with EGFR-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), marking a major milestone for precision medicine.
