Osimertinib shows sustained survival benefits in lung cancer study
Updated results from the Phase III ADAURA study demonstrate that AstraZeneca’s osimertinib provides sustained and clinically significant overall survival benefits for patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring EGFR mutations.
Presented at the World Conference on Lung Cancer, the eight-year data shows that in the primary analysis population (stages II–IIIA), osimertinib reduced the risk of death by 47% compared to a placebo. At the eight-year mark, 74% of patients in this group were alive, compared to 58% in the placebo group. In the overall population (stages IB–IIIA), the drug reduced the risk of death by 48%, with a 79% survival rate at eight years versus 64% for those receiving a placebo.
