Italian cities named European Cities of Sport 2028
Several Italian cities and territories have been officially designated as European Cities of Sport for 2028 by ACES Europe. The recognition honors efforts to promote physical activity as a tool for health, social integration, education, and community building.
Among the recipients are Brescia, Perugia, Pisa, Foggia, and Osimo. Additionally, the “Terre Etrusche Unite” district has been named a European Sport Community for 2028.
Brescia’s designation highlights significant local investments, with over 42 million euros allocated to sports infrastructure between 2023 and 2028, including the development of a sports district in Sanpolino. In Perugia, Mayor Vittoria Ferdinandi emphasized the role of sport in fostering social cohesion and accessibility for all citizens. Pisa and Foggia also received the title following successful candidacy processes that evaluated their facilities and community programs.
