Osiptel clarifies reporting procedures for spam calls in Peru

The Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) has provided guidance on how to report unsolicited spam calls in Peru, noting that the appropriate authority depends on the nature of the issue.

For unauthorized commercial or advertising calls made without prior consumer consent, reports should be filed with the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi).

If the issue involves the improper use or treatment of personal data, consumers should contact the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (ANPD), which operates under the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.

Osiptel remains the competent body for complaints regarding the actual provision of telecommunications services, including mobile and fixed telephony, internet, and pay TV. This includes issues with billing, service quality, contracting, portability, or service cancellation.
