OSIPTEL reports record mobile number portability in Peru

Peru's telecommunications regulator, OSIPTEL, reported that over 550,000 mobile lines changed operators in July, marking the highest number of mobile portabilities recorded so far in 2026. Of these, approximately 80%—or 438,929 lines—belonged to postpaid users.

In terms of market movement, Claro saw the highest net positive balance, gaining 30,156 lines. Entel also recorded a net positive gain of 7,690 lines, while Guinea Mobile saw a marginal increase of 24 lines. Conversely, Movistar and Bitel experienced net losses, with Movistar losing 17,134 lines and Bitel losing 20,736 lines.

Additionally, OSIPTEL provided guidance regarding the transfer of service ownership. Users have the right to request a change of ownership for mobile, fixed-line, internet, and pay TV services directly through their operators. This process allows a new subscriber to assume all contractual rights and obligations. In cases of a holder's death, direct family members may request the transfer by providing necessary legal documentation.
