Oskarshamn municipality plans new elderly housing developments

The Oskarshamn municipal board has approved a preliminary study to plan future housing for the elderly. The study will investigate the possibility of developing a combined model of security housing and specialized care facilities in the Sidensvansen area, specifically on the site of the former Kikebo school.

This project will be a collaborative effort between the social services department and the municipal housing company, Byggebo AB. The goal is to address the increasing demand for varied housing options as the population of residents aged 80 and older is projected to rise over the next five years. The results of the study are expected to be presented to the municipal board and the social welfare committee in autumn 2026.
