Oslo art installation recreates photo of Queen Mette-Marit and Jeffrey Epstein

Artist Morten Viskum has opened a temporary art installation in central Oslo titled ‘The Beginning of the End’. The work features wax figures of Queen Mette-Marit of Norway and the late financier Jeffrey Epstein sitting side by side on a sofa, recreating a photograph that appeared in the Epstein files.

Visitors to the installation are invited to sit in the empty space between the two figures to take photographs. Viskum, a well-known provocateur in the Scandinavian art scene, stated that the image of the Queen on Epstein’s sofa was a primary inspiration for the piece.

The installation comes as a Norwegian parliamentary oversight committee conducts hearings regarding Epstein’s network of contacts in Norway, though officials have noted that the Royal Court is not subject to the committee’s jurisdiction.
