Oslo hotel employee charged after serving expired chicken to police

A hotel employee in Oslo has been charged with attempting to harm public officials after allegedly serving expired chicken to police officers. The incident occurred at the Grand Hotel while officers were stationed there to provide security for the funeral of King Harald.

Oslo police detained a woman in her 30s following reports that she prepared a dish using chicken that had passed its expiration date. According to police prosecutor Marion Berg Hauge, digital messages from the suspect stated that while ‘no one dies from the food, they can become very ill.’

The police justified the arrest by stating the situation was potentially disruptive to police operations and security during the royal funeral. The suspect’s defense lawyer has characterized the detention as an overreaction, noting that no one fell ill. Reports indicate the employee has since been dismissed from her position.
