Oslo MDG to hold closed-door nomination meeting

The Oslo branch of the Green Party (MDG) is holding a nomination meeting to determine its top candidate for the upcoming election. The meeting is expected to feature a contested vote for the first position on the Oslo list, with Margit Martinsen Bye currently nominated for the top spot and challenged by Eivind Trædal.

To respect the period of national mourning following the passing of King Harald, the MDG county board has proposed conducting the meeting behind closed doors. According to deputy leader Miriam Einangshaug, the party intends to minimize public attention, which includes barring the press, observers, and guests from the meeting. Candidates have been instructed to refrain from giving interviews, issuing press releases, or making social media posts until after the royal funeral. While the final results of the nomination will be made available to the press, the party aims to avoid public celebrations or promotion of candidates during this time.
