Oslo Negativ photography festival expands at National Gallery
The sixth annual Oslo Negativ photography festival is expanding its presence at the old National Gallery in Oslo. Following a record-breaking attendance of 10,000 visitors last year, the festival will occupy more than 2,000 square meters, including the second floor of the gallery and the Munch Hall. The 2025 theme is ‘Passion/Lidenskap’, featuring works by international photographers such as Alec Soth from Magnum Photos and Cristina de Middel, alongside installations by Erik Kessels.
In a change to the festival lineup, the photography collective A Female Gaze will not participate in this year’s program after five consecutive years of exhibiting. Photographer Charlotte Wiig stated that the group is taking a pause due to a lack of time and resources, noting the difficulty of balancing artistic practice with commercial work. The collective has already secured exhibition slots for 2026 at the Trondheim Art Association and the Fredrikstad Art Association.
