Oslo property marketing criticized over Holmenkollen walking distance claim
A luxury property in the Frøen district of Oslo was recently marketed as being within ‘walking distance’ of Holmenkollen. However, investigations revealed that the walk covers five kilometers and involves a continuous uphill climb of approximately 300 meters.
Testing by E24 showed that the journey takes 1 hour and 9 minutes at a normal walking pace, while Google Maps algorithms estimate the trip could take up to an hour and a half. The property, an Arne Korsmo-designed residence, was listed for 39.9 million NOK.
The Norwegian Consumer Council has criticized the marketing as misleading, suggesting that real estate agents risk scrutiny from the Consumer Authority for such claims. The specific phrasing was removed from the advertisement shortly after inquiries were made.
