On 25 July 2024, around 23:30, 28‑year‑old Osman Ataş shot and killed his 44‑year‑old girlfriend Semra Yılmaz and two by‑standers, 25‑year‑old Ali Can Demir and 28‑year‑old Sinan İlbey, at Rüzgarlı Tepe in Kabasakal neighbourhood of Çukurova district, Adana. In police interviews the suspect said he acted out of jealousy, believing Semra Yılmaz was cheating on him. After the shootings Ataş fled in his car, later being located in Güzelevler, Yüreğir district, where police recovered the firearm and arrested him. CCTV footage from the area was examined as part of the investigation. He was taken into custody, transferred to court and sentenced to prison.

The three victims were identified by name and age, and their bodies were released to relatives after autopsies by the Adana Forensic Institute. The case was handled by the Adana Crime Bureau (Cinayet Büro Amirliği) and the local public security directorate.
